It is Christmas time at long last and here in Kilcullen Community Playgroup we are getting ourselves ready for Santa.  He is making a very special visit here to our Playschool on Wednesday 21st.  We know he is a very busy man and we are delighted he is making time to come and see our playgroup children.  We will have some lovely photos to show you next month. 

Last month we talked about the beginning of winter and the children had a wonderful time discovering the signs of winter.  We learned that the leaves have now fallen from the trees, our days are getting colder, we have to wear warmer clothes and maybe this winter we will have more snow!  We are also learning the letters of the alphabet, recognising different shapes and numbers while still having fun. 

We are very busy making our Christmas Trees, baubles, Santa faces, stars, bells and lots more Christmas decorations.  We are learning lots of carols and poems.  Here is one you could learn with your child at home.

When Santa got stuck up the chimney,
He began to shout,
You girls and boys,
Won't get any toys,
If you don't pull me out.
There's soot on my back,
And my beard is all black,
My nose is tickling too!
